I think one of the hardest things I’ve ever done was to find the proper balance between managing my career with my growing family.
As women, we try to do it all and most of us are trying to do a perfect job. But being a caregiver is hard work. It doesn’t matter whether we are caring for our spouse, our children or our parents. Caregiving is tough stuff.
Over the years I’ve struggled with my own health issues, and I’ve had to learn the hard way how to take care of myself first. I’ve always put everyone else’s needs before my own. After all, I was the boss-lady, the mom, the wife, the granddaughter, and the niece. But what I really was, was exhausted. Just worn out. Physically, emotionally and spiritually.
As a coach, it was hard to follow my own advice. I had to give myself permission to try new ways to effectuate positive and healthy change. But I knew I had no choice, and making the changes worked.
Although I am still not where I want to be weight-wise, I’ve gotten to where I need to be in so many other areas of my life. I, like all of you, will forever remain a “work in progress.”
Although I have been coaching people professionally for almost 30 years now, it wasn’t until this year that I decided to take everything I’ve learned and launch Coaching for Caregivers.
I hope that I can use my knowledge, skills, and expertise, to help you live your best life, while caring for yourself, your family, and your aging parents.
